He is the series’ most prolific villain, characterized by an ambition for power and a lack of conscience and empathy. Despite his prominent masculinity, Dio has been confirmed by the franchise’s author himself to be canonically bisexual – a sexuality implied in the manga and the series, but one which remains a debate among some fans. He is shipped with his stepbrother Jonathan by audiences, but the two of them despise one another. One cannot equate Dio’s villainy to his sexuality; though it may be unconventional, it is accepted regardless of his gender preferences.

He’s shown violence towards his rivals, including taking Erina’s kiss to spite Jonathan, his stepbrother, and even slept with other male antagonists. Fans still question his sexuality, ship him with Jonathan, his biggest rival, given they hate each other intensely.
